23-year-old mother Jennifer Duncan was driving down the highway in Waco, Texas, when she got into a car accident. She pulled over and took her 8-month-old son, Daniel, out of the car. She stood off to the side where she should have been safe.
Then, another car ran into the cars that were pulled over, causing Jennifer and her baby to be pushed off of the overpass bridge. As they fell 30 feet, Jennifer wrapped her son and used herself as a human shield to protect her baby.
The baby survived with just a scratch, but Jennifer paid the price. She shattered her pelvis, broke her back, fractured her leg and ribs, and even had to have her leg amputated.
