Martellus Bennett May Skip White House if Patriots Win Super Bowl

The New England Patriots are, most often, known for what they don’t say. From coach Bill Belichick on down, the Pats have a reputation for being tight-lipped about anything other than football. Even then, it’s a crapshoot.

Martellus Bennett wasn’t mincing words at media night on Monday, though. When asked if he would visit the White House, provided the Patriots win Super Bowl LI, he said it wasn’t likely to happen.

“Most likely not, because I don’t support the person in it,” he told the Detroit Free Press.

Although Trump’s connection to members of the Patriots organization, including Robert Kraft, Bill Belichick, and Tom Brady, is well known, Bennett has been critical of the president on social media. He thinks other athletes would be too, if they weren’t so worried about the financial consequences.

“All the players are worried about their personal brands,” he said. “I feel like a lot of players throughout every situation, they have chances to really impact the community with things that they say.
